Terms and Conditions
JLS Tax & Accounting, DBA JLS TaxPros
Effective Date: January 3, 2026
This Agreement governs the professional relationship between JLS Tax & Accounting, DBA JLS TaxPros (“JLS TaxPros,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and the client (“you” or “Client”). By engaging our services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, which describe the services we provide, your responsibilities, our policies, and your rights.
1. Definitions
1.1 Client – Any individual, joint taxpayer, or entity engaging JLS TaxPros for tax preparation, consultation, or related services.
1.2 Services – Tax preparation, review, filing, consultation, guidance, and related services provided by JLS TaxPros.
1.3 Confidential Information – All nonpublic personal, financial, and mobile information provided by the Client, including tax documents, account details, and communications.
1.4 Electronic Filing (E-File) – Secure electronic submission of tax returns to federal, state, or local tax authorities.
1.5 Post-Service Payment Option – An agreement allowing payment of fees to be deducted from the Client’s tax refund once the refund is issued.
1.6 IRS Safeguards Rule Compliance – Measures in place to protect nonpublic taxpayer information in accordance with federal regulations.
2. Scope of Services
2.1 Included Services
JLS TaxPros agrees to provide the following services:
Preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, or other entities.
Review of income, deductions, credits, and other information provided by the Client.
Electronic filing of tax returns with the IRS and applicable state authorities, upon Client approval.
Guidance and explanations related to the completed tax return.
2.2 Excluded Services
Unless agreed in writing, the following services are not included:
Audit representation before the IRS or state authorities
Preparation of amended returns
Bookkeeping or general accounting services
Tax planning or consulting unrelated to the prepared return
Responding to IRS or state correspondence outside the scope of preparation
2.3 Additional Services
Services outside the defined scope require a separate written agreement and may incur additional fees.
3. Client Responsibilities
3.1 Accuracy and Completeness
Clients must provide complete and accurate documentation, including:
Income statements (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, etc.)
Documentation for deductions, credits, and expenses
Banking or payment information for refunds or payments
3.2 Notification of Changes
Clients must promptly notify JLS TaxPros of any new, corrected, or additional information received after the preparation process has begun.
3.3 Documentation Retention
Clients must maintain records supporting all income, deductions, and credits for at least three (3) years, or longer if required by law.
3.4 Review and Approval
Clients must carefully review their completed tax return before signing. Clients acknowledge that they are ultimately responsible for the information reported.
3.5 Electronic Filing Consent
By engaging JLS TaxPros, clients authorize electronic filing of their tax returns. Clients understand that E-File is the standard filing method unless an alternative is requested and agreed upon.
4. JLS TaxPros Responsibilities
4.1 Preparation Standards
JLS TaxPros will prepare tax returns using professional diligence and in accordance with applicable tax laws.
4.2 Confidentiality and Privacy
All client information is confidential and protected under the Privacy Policy, including physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards in accordance with the IRS Safeguards Rule.
4.3 Verification of Information
Unless otherwise agreed, JLS TaxPros does not audit, verify, or independently confirm client-provided information.
4.4 Professional Guidance
Guidance is based solely on the information provided and applicable tax laws at the time of preparation. JLS TaxPros does not guarantee refund amounts, approval of credits, or timing of refund issuance.
5. Payment Terms
5.1 Fees and Payment
Tax preparation fees are due prior to filing unless a post-service payment option is elected.
Post-service payment fees will be deducted from your tax refund after issuance.
5.2 Refund Offset Responsibility
Clients remain responsible for fees even if refunds are offset due to prior debts, including child support, student loans, or government obligations.
Notification and Payment Process:
First Notice: JLS TaxPros will send a written notice outlining the outstanding balance and available payment options, including payment arrangements.
Second Notice: If no response is received within 15 calendar days, a second notice, mirroring the first, will be sent.
Legal Action: If no response or payment is received 5 days after the second notice, JLS TaxPros may pursue legal action to recover unpaid fees, which may be considered theft of services under applicable law.
Clients are encouraged to respond promptly to avoid additional fees, interest, or legal proceedings.
5.3 Additional Services & Consultation Fees
Fee Schedule:
Consultation Fee: $50 minimum for up to 20 minutes
Filing Requirement Consultation: $25–$75
Extended Consultation or Additional Topics: $150/hour
Follow-up Sessions: Additional fees may apply
5.4 Refunds & Filing
Fees may be deducted from refunds if elected; third-party processing fees may apply
Upfront payments must be received before filing
Refund amounts and timing are determined solely by IRS/state authorities
JLS TaxPros does not guarantee refund amounts, approval of credits, or timing
6. Document Retention
Retain copies of tax returns and supporting documentation for at least 3 years
Requests for additional copies: $75 fee
7. Limitation of Liability
Liability is limited to fees paid for services rendered
JLS TaxPros is not responsible for penalties, interest, or additional taxes resulting from incomplete, inaccurate, or late information provided by the Client
8. Privacy & Messaging Terms
8.1 Privacy Policy Compliance
All client information is protected under our Privacy Policy, effective January 3, 2026.
8.2 SMS Communications Consent
Clients consent to receive service-related messages, including:
Appointment reminders
Document requests
Service updates
Account communications
8.3 Message Frequency
Frequency varies based on service activity and engagement.
8.4 Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply, charged by the client’s mobile carrier.
8.5 Opt-Out

9. Cancellation & Termination
Either party may terminate services in writing at any time
Fees for services provided up to termination remain due
Refunds, if applicable, are calculated based on services completed
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Louisiana
Disputes will first be attempted to resolve via informal negotiation
Unresolved disputes will be submitted to binding arbitration under Louisiana law
